Who Are the Jesuits?
We are the Society of Jesus, a Roman Catholic religious order of priests and brothers founded nearly five centuries ago by the soldier-turned-mystic St. Ignatius of Loyola. Worldwide, we are widely known as the Jesuits.
In the vision of our founder, we seek to “find God in all things.” We dedicate ourselves to the Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (AMDG) – “For the Greater Glory of God” – and the holistic good of all humanity. Gratefully collaborating with laypersons, teachers, and parents, we nurture women and men of competence, conscience, and compassionate commitment.
With close to 17,000 priests and brothers globally, the Jesuits constitute the largest male religious order in the Catholic Church, ministering across education, social justice, scientific research, and humanitarian apostolates.
The Four Vows & Ignatian Pedagogy
As consecrated religious, Jesuits profess three evangelical counsels – poverty, chastity, and obedience – along with a sacred fourth vow of absolute obedience to the Holy Father in regard to worldwide educational and pastoral missions.
Our educational apostolate is anchored on the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm: Context, Experience, Reflection, Action, and Evaluation – empowering students to excel academically and stand as champions for the underprivileged.
